The Planetary Instrument for X-ray Lithochemistry (PIXL) instrument onboard the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover is a micro-focused X-ray spectrometer that derives the chemical composition of geologic materials on Mars. To assess micron-scale thick samples, corrections for variable sampling depth fractions need to be applied. The code and underlying data herein provide these sampling fractions and apply them to calibration target data acquired by PIXL in order to constrain the mass thickness and composition of Martian dust adhered to the hardware.
